Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society

Copyright ProtectionWe take digital copyright very seriously with audio and video productions.

When we take your project, we will ask you to check you have clear use of audio and audio visuals, if they are not your own work.

If you use other digital artists work in your project, you must contact Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) for the use of audio and audio visuals in your project. MCPS represents artists mechanical rights, whenever a piece of music is reproduced as a physical product. We will ask to see your signed confirmed MCPS license documentation before we continue with your duplication.

Before we start a project we check with you that:

  1. your digital master project contains only your digital work or the content contained within is what has already been licensed
  2. any music used in your master project is copyright free or is copyright controlled or you have MCPS documentation that confirms and permits its digital use voluntarily or commercially
  3. any digital project you supply does not contain defamatory or illegal content such as images or other material pertinent to its destination of use
  4. you understand if we believe the content you are producing is not within the above pointers, we will/may ask for further documentary evidence to confirm your legal status on Copyright ownership of digital audio and audio visuals.

MCPS may sound a little daunting but MCPS are here to help ensure all artists are treated fairly and correctly. The MCPS are there to help you to obtain the right license for your project. It is very quick easy and painless. Have a look at Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) website to find your license.

If the digital audio and audio-visual is your own work that will be fine but where there are other issues, we will discuss this on a per project basis.

The MCPS website has a wealth of information to help ensure you are following the correct rules and procedures in audio and audio-visuals. Visit the MCPS Help Centre to help answer your initial queries and questions.

Intellectual Property Rights Form

When a project is started, we do ask all customers to complete an Intellectual Property Rights Form confirmation form before we continue with your duplication of CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, LightScribes, USBs and other flash memory devices. If we feel there are issues surrounding your project, we reserve the right to suspend/cancel your order.

Help is at Hand

If you do use commercial audios and audio visuals for your project, but are unsure what you need to do, we are at hand to help you get in touch with MCPS and help complete the paper work if required.

Other Stock Items

The copyright also applies to stock photography, stock illustrations and stock graphics if purchased online or from elsewhere. This is not an area that MCPS deal in and you will need to check with your designer, or the license required from where you purchased your stock items from.
