30/09/2009 Leicestershire: Michael Cheung is a well known entrepreneurial Leicestershire businessman who has run, for several years, an award winning and innovative integrated marketing, design and communications agency.  But as Michael says, “why have one business, when you can have another?”

“Working in and with the media has made me very aware of the opportunities surrounding new technologies including Blu-ray and LightScribe.  That’s why I’ve decided to start a brand new business called ‘DVD Blu-ray Duplication’ which concentrates on high speed, security safe duplication of DVDs, Blu-ray, LightScribe and USB Pens.  Some might say that to set up a business in a recession is a risky strategy, but when I looked at the potential market I could see that the opportunities are incredible.

Currently I am the only duplication house in the East Midlands which is able to duplicate DVD, Blu-ray, LightScribe and USB Pens in-house.  The kit I have invested in is able to run off tens of thousands of copies but is equally cost-effective for a customer who wants just a very small run of say 10 copies.”

The technology involved ensures that the actual duplication process is incredibly quick.  “Recently we had an order come in from the University of Leicester.  They needed 100 USB Pen copies and they needed them the same day.  Not a problem at all!  As I’ve said, our technology is all about speed and cost-effectiveness.”

Michael is so convinced that his duplication business will succeed that he has invested in some very cutting edge technology called LightScribe.  LightScribe DVD optical discs are used in storing a wide variety of digital content such as text documents and files, music, movies, videos and other digital content from a computer.  The term LightScribe is used to define the printing technology used in LightScribe DVD Duplication.  Instead of using inks or carbon to print onto the discs, LightScribe uses the laser from the drive to ‘burn’ the image onto the top of the LightScribe DVD optical disc.

Says Michael, “This format is perfect for environmentally conscious customers who are looking to reduce wastage as no inks are used during the LightScribe DVD printing process.  There is no waste!”

Don’t think, however, that the finished look is compromised.  LightScribe DVD discs come in a default gold colour to give an instant professional look.  There is a selection of LightScribe DVD optical discs colours from which to choose and which give your product a unique look.
